Samuel KnickerbockerI grew up on the mission field in the country of France. Being in church all the time, I never saw my need for salvation until I was eight years old. For the first time, I realized that I deserved Hell because of my sin. My grandfather, David Knickerbocker, shared the gospel message with me, and for the first time I realized that the Lord's death on the cross was for my sins. I repented of my sins and trusted Christ as my Saviour. When I was sixteen years old, I surrendered my life to the Lord and promised to submit to His will for my life. As a senior in high school, the Lord called me to preach. The Lord then led me to Crown College in Powell, Tennessee. There I met my wife, Justine, and we got engaged in our senior year of college. While in college, the Lord gave me a desire to become a pastor. Upon graduating college with a degree in Pastoral Ministry, the Lord led me to join the staff of Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware under the leadership of Pastor Terri Moore. My wife and I have served at Capitol for five years. The Lord has blessed our family with three wonderful children. The Lord began working in my heart about the city of Wilmington in Delaware. When we visited the city, God gave me a burden to see a church started in this big city. After several months of prayer with my wife and counsel with other godly leadership, we believe the Lord has called us to Wilmington. We are thrilled and excited to see what the Lord is going to do!
Justine KnickerbockerI am a second generation Christian. My parents both trusted Christ as Saviour when I was six years old so I basically grew up in a Christian home. My parents immediately jumped into the Lord's work and made sure that we all were involved in the ministry together as a family. In 2000, I believed on Jesus Christ as my Saviour during a summer camp service at eleven years old. When I was twelve, my dad became a pastor. After I graduated high school, I went to Crown College of the Bible in Powell, Tennessee, in 2007. While at college, I was able to be involved in many ministries: summer camps, a traveling singing trio, door-to-door soul-winning, the bus ministry, the university campus ministry, nursery, children's Sunday school classes, and others. I met Sam at college and was attracted to him and his obvious zeal for the Lord. I graduated in 2011 with a degree in Elementary Education. In October of that year, Sam and I were married. Since graduating, we have both been on staff at Capitol Baptist Church in Dover, Delaware, where my father is the pastor. I was the teacher of the preschool but after the birth of our first child, I moved to church secretarial work so I could work and care for my children as well. The Lord has graciously blessed us with three children: David, Adelynn, and Sophia. We are excited to see how the Lord is going to use us as we endeavor to take the gospel to the people of Wilmington, Delaware.
